| Have a wonder-4th of July celebration! |
For women only: These giveaways will let you ladies look better than ever, but might not look as good on you guys. Carolyn Raab, who looks as swell as her name-brand clothes at The Bridge Boutique, has designer clothes at less than designer prices. And the service is excellente. We've got four pre-selected Ming Wang jackets and shells - one each in sizes small, medium, large and 1X - and each is valued at over $250. Ming Wang fits all sizes -Mr. B looked fabulosa in his -- from ex to 3x with particular focus on color, fit and style, just like Carolyn. Better still, they're washable and travel friendly. To win, we need to have your size.
Cats-up on the tee: Fort Worth Cat Tabatha Forsythe, who has the fore-sight to read Newz-E-Letter, knew it was difficult to get up close and personal with players and coaches during a game. But it wouldn't be so difficult on the golf course, and here's a chance for four Forsythe followers to be part of the Cats' 4th annual golf tournament. It's July 14th at Whitestone Golf Club, and your day includes lunch, golf, dinner and beverages. Son NoBGood will be driving the drink cart...FORE!
T-Bone flavor: When Alison Krause got (Robert) Planted, the result was Raising Sand, a CD with a local flavor from T Bone Burnett that has garnered three American Music Association nominations. Their tour takes them to Nokia July 7 and you could be celebrating your post-Independence with some fireworks. Thanks to the Jim Austin Company, we have two tickets and a VIP parking spot.

Silver bullets: About this time of year, Mr. B is doing a little hatin' of Peter Coors standing in the snow-capped mountains of Denver hawking Coors beer. Could you send a little of the cool, mountain freshness our way, pal? Well, prayers answered. Larry Anfin, head pop top with Coors Distributing of Fort Worth, has one case of Coors Banquet cans and one case of Coors Light cans for each of three winners just in time for your patriotic celebration.
Brand(ing) new: Pacman is no longer, so he's just Dallas Cowboy Adam Jones, surely to be confused often with restaurateur Adam Jones, who is opening Grace in downtown Fort Worth in October.
Hanging their hats: The Cantey Hanger law firm, a Fort Worth institution since 1882, is in its new home at the northeast corner of 6th and Cherry streets downtown. Took developer Red Oak Realty less than a year to complete the four-story Cantey Hanger Plaza.

Long, winding road: Todd Miller with Johnston & Matthews tells the Chamber's Dugan that he was a professional wrestler known as The Flying Blue Hawaiian. Wrestled all over Texas, and in 1998, was designated the most hated wrestler in the state. He also has road-tested motorcycles for a local manufacturer headed by Bill Rucker, who also had been Todd's scuba instructor. When Todd applied for the road testing job, Rucker remembered him as just about the worst scuba student he'd ever had. Said Todd: "I was 18. All I could think about was Cancun, beer and girls…what do you expect?"

The one & only: Tarleton State University's Rifle Team has received a $2,000 grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA). Tarleton reportedly is the only university in the country with a high-power rifle team. It competes against civilian and military teams with AR-15 service rifles.

Snap, crackle…grackle: Jennifer Bailey, office manager at D.R. Horton and the official grackles tracker for Newz-E-Letter, says the birds are back outside her windows for another go-round with Fort Worth officials. Vegas odds favor the birds.
Ticket chic: Texas Rangers hired their first ticket salesperson for the Fort Worth office opening downtown in August. It's former University of Oklahoma track star Jenn Plank, who pole vaulted (13 feet, two inches) away from son NoBGood, a fellow student and possible suitor. Another hire is Alexis Arteaga, who was ticket manager of Fort Worth Cats.
The good life: Samantha Curtis lives the life of luxury. She has "opened" the last three Luxury of Leather corporate furniture stores, the latest being at Montgomery Plaza and in the Arlington Highlands. Tom Maher runs the Fort Worth location.

A better life: Bank error in its favor … a City of Dallas audit "found" $6.7 million. Wonder who "lost" a job.
Grooming tip: New member Daniel McCarthy, lead designer for ardentcreative, looks the creative type with his spiked haircut. He uses wife Hayley's straightening iron, then gel. Hayley says gel goes on after the spiking so it doesn't goo up the iron.
Black-market gold: To help fuel efficiency, imagine the havoc if we all found and used a black-market transmitter that changed stoplights from red to green to ease our traffic flow? Right now, City of Fort Worth Fire Department has 'em and The T is testing them.

Southern living: Wow. The Chamber's South Area Council has added 28 members since April. Membership is now 574.
Stirred & fried: Those lucky Am-Bass-Adores get a free lunch at Ghengis Grill when they cut a Mongolian ribbon next Wednesday at 4469 Bryant Irvin Road. Lots of Chamber photos, including ribbon cuttings, can be seen at the Chamber website.
Fine with us: Susan Fine says the new building for the Women's Center of Tarrant County - 1723 Hemphill - will be finished in November with a grand opening tentatively planned for February 2009.
Four-star with us: Becky Harper has been promoted to Coordinator IV with the Fort Worth ISD.
Hidden savings: If you think the price of gas is high, check out laundry detergent. Daughter MisBehavin' suggested she could save money by shipping hers to Dad to launder.
