Fort Worth Scraps Street Maintenance Fee Proposal

In March, the City of Fort Worth proposed a street maintenance fee for residents and businesses during a City Council work session presentation. However, the City recently announced the proposed fee has been parked for now.

The proposal would have levied a fee on all business operations, with the amount varying based on business type and square footage. Before the City shifted gears on the proposed fee, the Fort Worth Chamber illustrated what those potential costs would look like for various business types and sizes.

In a release, Councilman Crain noted businesses are currently operating in a climate with rising costs across the board and had concerns about implementing another fee at this time. The Fort Worth Chamber remains committed to advocating for policies that balance the needs of our growing city with the maintenance and revitalization of existing infrastructure.
